Dallas Cowboys suffer another major injury blow just weeks before NFL season starts causing Jerry Jones further headache

DALLAS COWBOYS star Caelen Carson will miss the start of the season through injury.

It is the latest blow for Jerry Jones and his team following the injury to Rob Jones.

Carson suffered a hyperextended knee on Sunday and is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, per ESPN.

It has been a troublesome spell for the Cowboys with several stars struck down.

As well as the cornerback, the NFC side are also without Trevon Diggs and Josh Butler.

Rookie Shavon Revel is missing and DaRon Bland was absent for a week following the birth of his son.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cowboys have added Christian Matthew, who had been with the Baltimore Ravens.

The latest blow to Carson comes after Jones broke a bone in his neck during training, ruling him out for three months.

He was expected to rival Tyler Booker – the Cowboys’ pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft – for a starting spot on the team.

Cowboys fan and Undisputed host Skip Bayless claimed Jones was beating Booker to the guard position based on early performance ratings.

‘Sounds like cheap free agent pickup Rob Jones was beating out first-round pick Tyler Booker – bad early sign for Booker – until Jones broke a bone in his neck Sunday and will be gone, Cowboys say, for 2-3 months,’ Bayless posted.

Jones, 26, joined the NFL as undrafted free agent in 2021 when he was signed by the Miami Dolphins – starting 30 of 49 games.

He only joined the Cowboys in March 11 when he signed a one-year, $4.75million contract, $3m of which is guaranteed.

The Cowboys play in the opening game of the 2025 season in Philadelphia on September 4 against Super Bowl-winning Eagles.

Their camp has been dominated by Micah Parsons and his ongoing contract talks that looked to be dragging on.

The two-time All-Pro defensive end enters the final year of his current deal and said last week there has been little progress on extending.

Owner Jerry Jones was even heckled by fans who are want a breakthrough in talks with chants of “Pay Micah”.

“I heard it light, but not compared to how I heard them say, ‘Pay (CeeDee) Lamb’ last year,” Jones said.

“That was a faint little sound compared to the way they were hollering last year.

“Whoever’s not in, you can count on a few hollering that. But it was a big loud chant last year on Lamb.”
