Deion Sanders tipped to make dramatic Colorado Buffaloes decision involving player who was third string

THE Colorado Buffaloes are set for a major change as a third string star is promoted to become a starter.

Head coach Deion Sanders, 58, has been tipped to make the change ahead of Friday’s visit to Houston.

It is the two-time Super Bowl winner’s third season in charge of the college.

Ryan Staub is set to take over as a starter for the Buffaloes as they head into their third week of action.

The third-year sophomore will replace Kaidon Salter, 22, at quarterback.

Staub performed well against Delaware last Saturday as the Buffaloes recorded a 31-7 win.

He completed seven of his ten passes against the Fightin’ Blue Hens, making 157 yards.

His two touchdowns against Delaware triples his overall record for Colorado.

Staub completed just 23 of his 40 passes during his freshman 2023 season.

The following year, he managed just four failed attempts, with one sack.

This news is a significant blow for Salter, who had been expected to guide the Buffaloes into a new era.

Colorardo are without Sanders’ quarterback son, Shedeur.

The 23-year-old is now at the Cleveland Browns.

With the Buffaloes retiring Sanders Jnr.’s number two jersey, there is a power vacuum at quarterback.

Colorado opened their season with a 27-20 loss to Georgia Tech.

Head coach Sanders has snapped back over game clock concerns as the Yellow Jackets snuck the win during the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Haynes King rushed for 45 yards to secure a comeback win for Georgia Tech at Folsom Field.

The NFL legend suggested that 17-year-old quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis would get the nod for their second game.

Lewis was given four attempts to prove himself against Delaware, making four yards and taking a sack.

This hands Staub a prime opportunity to stake his claim as a starter against the Cougars.

Houston enter Friday’s match-up undefeated, with wins against Stephen F. Austin and Rice.

If Staub can guide Sanders’ team to victory against the Cougars, he will cement his place as the Buffaloes’ first-choice.
