DELTA is cancelling one of its routes between two U.S. airports.
Flyers will no longer be able to book flights between the two American hubs starting November 9.

A multitude of airlines have announced route cancellations and flight changes set to take place through the end of the year[/caption]
The carrier is shutting down its route between Austin and Midland, Texas, one of its flights to service the Western part of the state.
Dampening demand was the reason behind the route cancellation.
“Delta will discontinue its Austin–Midland (AUS–MAF) route effective Nov. 9, 2025, as we adapt our schedule to align with consumer demand,” a Delta spokesperson said told the U.S. Sun.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and remain committed to serving Central Texas as the leading global carrier in Austin.”
Multiple other carriers will continue to provide flights between the two airports, including Southwest, United, and American Airlines.
Delta CEO Edward Bastian said that they were adjusting flights to match demand after the airline had strong earnings in the second quarter of 2025.
Midland’s airport and Austin’s are around 330 miles apart.
The company said that it would continue its service to McAllen Airport to offer options to South Texas.
“Delta’s announcement that it will discontinue air service between Midland and Austin on Nov. 8, 2025, does not take away from the fact that Midland International Air & Space Port is on pace for another record year,” the city wrote in a statement after the cancellation.
“Midlanders will still enjoy non-stop service to Austin (through Southwest Airlines), along with non-stop flights to Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Denver and Phoenix.”
Delta has just added three nonstop flights out of Austin to Denver, Columbus, and Kansas City.
“While I am disappointed to learn that Delta Airlines will no longer be servicing our airport, it does not diminish our commitment to ensuring Midland International Air & Space Port continues to thrive and meet the needs of our residents and those traveling through the Permian Basin,” Councilwoman Robin Poole said.
“Midlanders can expect us to remain focused on supporting improvements and expansion efforts that will strengthen our airport’s role as a vital hub for our community and our region.”

At the beginning of September, United Airlines cancelled all of its U.S. flights to Cuba.
The move followed calls by some Republican lawmakers to restrict access to the country altogether.
“I don’t think we should have any travel to Cuba,” Republican Senator Rick Scott told CBS News in February.
“If you want to move back to Cuba, move back to Cuba. But it doesn’t help the people of Cuba—it helps the regime oppress them.”
The cancellation will remain in effect for the entire winter 2025-2026 season, according to documents seen by the U.S. Sun.
Flights are not expected to restart before summer 2026.
“We make regular adjustments to our flight schedule based on seasonality, demand, and other market factors,” a spokesperson told the U.S. Sun in July.
