The restaurant cited several reasons behind the closure such as rising costs[/caption]

“It is with a heavy heart that I am informing the community of McCook that Taste of Texas is closing our doors effective immediately,” it read.

The restaurant blamed the rising cost of products due to inflation and an increase in the minimum wage, leaving them unable to keep the doors open.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed serving this wonderful community. We are extremely broken hearted.”

The restaurant previously announced that it was closing for the July 4th holiday; however, it abruptly revealed that it was shuttering for good on June 30.

The post received nearly 200 comments from customers and former employees at the restaurant, sharing happy memories.

One person said the restaurant was her first job after moving to McCook seven years ago, and it ended up being the place where she met her husband.

“This place changed my life and I’ll never forget the memories. Loved it so much I came back years later,” wrote the woman wrote.

“And I’m so sad to see the doors close. Taste of Texas will always hold a close place to my heart.”

Another person called the closure a “very big loss for everyone in the community.”

One customer had an unusual request to keep the restaurant open, writing, “Just raise your prices!!”

Taste of Texas BBQ full statement

It is with a heavy heart that I am informing the community of McCook that Taste of Texas is closing our doors effective immediately.

The last 23 years have been the best. With the rising cost of product, inflation, and the increasing of minimum wage, we are unable to keep the doors open.

We have throughly enjoyed serving this wonderful community.

We are extremely broken hearted.

Others hoped someone else would take over the restaurant to possibly keep it open.

“We always really enjoyed your restaurant!! Great food! You will definitely be missed!!” wrote a patron.

CHOPPING BLOCK

Taste of Texas BBQ is just one of many restaurants that have had to close their doors due to rising costs.

Smokey Bones, a popular steakhouse at the Valley View Mall in Roanoke, Virginia, closed its doors on July 6.

“To our valued guests, our last day open will be July 6,” read a sign in the window of the restaurant.

“Thank you for 20 years! We have loved serving you.”

Customers were shocked to hear the news of the closure, especially after the restaurant was acquired by at Brands, the same parents company that operates Twin Peaks, in 2023.

Some online comments revealed that Smokey Bones near them have been recently turned into Twin Peaks spots.

One person said on Facebook: “They just closed the one in Fayetteville, NC and converting it to a Twin Peaks.”

And another wrote: “My guess is it will convert to Twin Peaks!”

Others expressed their sadness: “Was a great place to eat!”

While someone else noted: “Sorry to hear that it is closing. Loved their BBQ ribs!”
