Disney jumps on Labubu craze with its new plush toy – and it’s finally in America

IN the wake of the Labubu craze, one major company is trying to cash in.

The iconic brand has launched a new line of plush dolls that resemble their most memorable characters.

And it’s the first time they are making their way to American soil.

You can snag one of Disney’s Urupocha-chan plush dolls for around $16.99. Meanwhile, Labubus can sell for thousands of dollars.

They take the form of popular characters like Mickey Mouse, Pluto and Stitch.

They first rose to popularity in Japan and China.

In Japanese, “uru” means teary-eyed, and “pocha” means chubby. “Chan” is a Japanese term of endearment, according to a Disney blog.

You can purchase the pocket-sized accessories on DisneyStore.com

The first drop featured Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Camping Plush developed by Disney Store China.

Back in April, the Disney Store launched plush keychains featuring characters like Winnie the Pooh and Stitch.

“Now I can get all the cuteness of the medium and small-sized plush bundled up into mini 5-inch keychain versions that are perfectly nestled at home with my other stuffed animals or attached to my favorite accessory while I’m on the go,” a Disney spokesperson said.

The plush dolls are being released at a time when the popular Labubu doll has gone viral.

LABUBU CRAZE

Labubus are a type of popular plush doll made by Chinese toy company Pop Mart.

And while they blur the lines between cute and creepy, they have taken America by storm thanks to social media.

Plus, they’ve gotten recognition from celebrities like Rihanna and Kim Kardashian.

Least crowded months at Disney World

If you’re looking to avoid crowds at Disney World, it’s important to plan your trip on slower months.

When to go:

  • Blogs dedicated to Disney recommend going to the parks in February, May, August, and September.
  • As far as which days to go, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays can be a bit less crowded, according to Magic Guides.

When to avoid:

  • Public holidays can be the busiest times at the parks
  • The pros recommend avoiding the periods around Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, and Spring break
  • Memorial Day and Easter weekends are also crowded
  • Summer, Thanksgiving week, and Christmas until New Year’s Day should also be avoided if possible

And some are selling for big bucks.

One doll sold for a record-breaking $10,500 on eBay, The New York Post reports.

That particular doll was part of a collaboration between the toy company and Vans.

You can also buy Labubus for less than $20, but those editions are not as rare or in demand.
