Dollar Tree shoppers finally work out meaning behind the new red dot appearing on items across store and it’s bad news

SHOPPERS at Dollar Tree have finally deciphered the meaning behind the new red dots that have been appearing on items in-store.

And it spells bad news for customers, as it turns out that red dots could mean higher prices at the discount chain.

Dollar Tree has long been known as the place to go for some of the best deals and savings you can find.

However, shoppers have already been forced to swallow a widespread price increase.

Many items have already gone from $1 to $1.25, which most seem to have accepted.

However, a relatively new change at Dollar Tree has brought in red dot stickers on a wide array of items.

Shoppers are trying to figure out what it means, with some new theories emerging.

It is thought that the red dots could indicate a price increase for that product set to happen soon.

As the rumor mill has continued, some have suggested that prices could go up from $1.50 to $5.

It is not known what the possible timeline would be from a red sticker appearing to a potential price increase, however.

In circumstances like this, the best thing you can do is ask an employee.

If the staffer doesn’t know, they’ll be able to scan the bar code at the register.

This should tell you the current price of the item.

There is a possibility that this predicted price increase could be a result of Donald Trump‘s tariff policy, but again, this is unconfirmed.

The US Sun has contacted Dollar Tree for comment on the red sticker policy and what it means for shoppers, but did not hear back right away.

PRICE SHOCK

Some shoppers are even taking to social media to express their shock at the price increases happening at Dollar Tree.

Dollar Tree pricing

Despite the name of the store, Dollar Tree recently added items that cost more than $1 to its inventory.

Most items at the store cost no more than $1.25, but items in the Dollar Tree Plus section cost up to $5.

Dollar Tree introduced Plus aisles to 100 locations in 2019 as part of an effort to diversify its products.

By 2022, Dollar Tree had added the items to over 1,500 locations.

“We believe testing additional price points above $1 for Dollar Tree products will enable us over time to expand our assortments, introduce new products and meet more of our customers’ everyday needs,” president and CEO Michael Witynski said in a statement.

“Our brand promise is that customers get great value for what they spend at Dollar Tree. We will continue to be fiercely protective of that promise, regardless of the price point.”

One person was left dumbfounded after they spent $9 just for a packet of paper towels.

The user said online: “I was shocked when Bounty paper towels rang up $9 …..(yes at Dollar Tree)”.

In the comments of that post, many were also left shocked at the cost.

One person replied: “Are you serious? That’s terrible. They are becoming like the Dollar Store now.”

Another chimed in: “I know! I think Walmart charges less!”

And one more said: “9 dollars you can get 12 double rolls at Costco for 18 dollars.”
