Donald Trump causes US Open final delay over security ring of steel as Sinner-Alcaraz are left waiting

THE US Open has been delayed over Donald Trump’s ring of steel.

Jannik Sinner was set to take on rival Carlos Alcaraz at 2pm ET on Sunday.

The President is attending the showdown at Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York.

And due to the extra security over POTUS being there, the game has been delayed.

The US Open have announced the new start time of 2.30pm ET.

“As a result of the security measures in place, and to ensure that fans have additional time to get to their seats, we have pushed the start time of today’s match to 2:30 pm ET,” they said.

Trump arrived in New York’s LaGuardia Airport earlier today on Air Force One.

He will then make the short journey over to Flushing to watch the US Open.

A ring of steel has been erected around Arthur Ashe Stadium to protect the President.

He was a target of an assassination attempt last year before he was elected to the Oval Office.

This was before his second term had started.

There is airport-style security is on all entrance points.


New York Police Department numbers have also dramatically increased.

These extra measures have had an impact on fans arrival into the grounds.

VIPs have also been affected, as all bags have to be thoroughly searched.

Trump was born in the borough of Queens, New York.

How to watch the 2025 US Open

THE tennis world has descended upon New York City for the fourth and final slam of the year.

The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows will have the eyes of the sporting universe upon it.

The 2025 US Open takes place from Sunday 24 August to Sunday 7 September.
