The 45th and 47th president shook hands with players and staff in the locker room prior to their 9-3 victory over the Tigers.
Trump, who was a close friend with late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, said: “You’re going to win.
“I want to wish you guys a lot of luck. You’re great players.”
“You’re going to go all the way, and you’ll get in the play-off — and I think we’ll start off, how about tonight?
“We’ll start from tonight on, and you’re going to do well.”
Extra security was in place for Trump’s attendance at Yankee Stadium, as is always the case for presidential appearances.
However, further measures were put in place following the murder of Trump’s ally and political activist Charlie Kirk this week.
Kirk was shot and killed at a rally in Utah on Wednesday, with the shooter yet to be found.
According to reports, bulletproof glass panels were placed in front of Trump’s seat for the ballgame.
While the Yankees released guidelines for fans attending, detailing the enhanced security measures.

“Guests should make every effort to restrict personal items to an absolute minimum. Any such items should be able to fit in a pocket.
“All bags, personal items and their contents will be inspected before being permitted into Yankee Stadium.
“There is NO storage area at Yankee Stadium for prohibited items. Bottles, cans and liquids will NOT be permitted in Yankee Stadium. Restricted items include empty, reusable water bottles.

“Guests should expect that typically accessible areas inside and outside Yankee Stadium may become restricted spaces before, during or after the game.”
As well as the extra measures put in place at Trump’s seat, every entrance to Yankee Stadium had metal detectors and Secret Service agents, with some also featuring sniffer dogs.
When Trump attended the 9/11 observance ceremony at the Pentagon earlier on Thursday, authorities moved the ceremony inside as an added precaution.
