Dunkin’ location follows Starbucks with return of old-school ‘refill’ policy – but you must have the special cup

A DUNKIN’ location has followed Starbucks with the return of an old-school refill policy.

The spot now allows customers to get free refills if they have a special cup, and it’s already kicked in.

Since Brian Niccol took over as the CEO of Starbucks, he has implemented some sweeping changes.

Niccol vowed to turn Starbucks back into a place where people could hang out away from work.

He shared in an open letter: “Our stores have always been more than a place to get a drink.

“They’ve been a gathering space, a community center where conversations are sparked, friendships form, and everyone is greeted by a welcoming barista.

“Many of our customers still experience this magic every day, but in some places — especially in the US — we aren’t always delivering.”

The chief launched his “Back to Starbucks” initiative, which included a wave of policy changes.

All of this was geared towards making Starbucks feel less like a transactional place, and more in line with a community space.

One of those changes was implementing free refills for customers who buy “for here” beverages.

Under this policy, those who bought drinks in store could get a refill, and this goes for hot and cold drinks.

DUNKIN’ FOLLOWS

Now, a Dunkin’ location in McAllen, Texas has brought back free refills for customers, according to an announcement on social media.

It was revealed by a fan who took a snap of a Dunkin’ flyer, who then posted it to Facebook.

The flyer says that the policy is coming back starting from Monday, June 23.

It also informs customers that they need to bring their Dunkin’ branded cup if they want to take part.

The sign also confirms that the refill policy applies to all drinks, much like the Starbucks policy.

It says: “We are thrilled to welcome you back for this exciting refill experience.”

In the comments of the post, many expressed their jealousy that this wasn’t a policy at their own Dunkin’ location.

One person said: “Omg please bring this back to the Pittsburgh Dunkin’s.”

And another wrote: “Lucky.”

And others said that this had always been a policy at their Dunkin’, but did not make clear where these were located in the US.

Customers have been advised by employees in the comments to bring the special cups clean to restaurants.
