AMAZON has officially reached a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on Thursday.
The e-commerce giant agreed to a $2.5 billion pot only days after a civil trial over accusations that it duped consumers.

Plaintiffs in the case claimed that select Americans were mislead into signing up for an Amazon Prime subscription and that there was a confusing process to cancel it, per The Wall Street Journal.
Amazon will pay a $1 billion penalty amid the allegations and the other $1.5 billion will be placed in a fund to pay back affected consumers, according to a press release.
The FTC said the $1 billion civil penalty is the largest in US history.
