On Sunday night, the ex-Chicago Bears star Jay Cutler sparked outrage when he posted a photo on Instagram of a dead Sable Antelope.
Cutler had gone hunting with friends to the Eastern Cape city of Tyityaba.
The 43-year-old posed alongside the dead animal and revealed that it was indeed his kill.
“Kicked off the Africa hunt with a beauty. Sable down,” Cutler wrote in the caption.
Cutler shared the post to his 603,000-plus followers.
Fans, however, were left disgusted with Cutler smiling next to the murdered animal.
“Wow, Jay. You killed a wild animal in a place it’s rarely hunted and it had zero idea you were a threat. Suppeeerrr impressive buddy,” one wrote.
“This is nothing to brag about,” another commented.
“Why is this necessary?” a third asked.
“The worst kind of flex,” a fourth said.
Cutler played in the NFL for 12 seasons.
He’s best known for his days with the Bears, as he played with the franchise for eight seasons.
Cutler earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2008 and led the Bears to the 2010 NFC Championship game.
He entered the NFL in 2006 as a Denver Broncos first-round pick.
