Good morning KELOLAND! A very hot forecast is ahead the next few days, with areas of scattered thunderstorms possible again tonight.

First, an extreme heat watch has been posted for much of eastern KELOLAND for tomorrow and Saturday. This watch also includes Sioux Falls and the southeast on Sunday. The combination of extreme heat and humidity will send the heat index to around 105 during the peak heating periods.

Before the worst of the heat arrives, thunderstorms may develop tonight. The best chance of any severe weather will include the far northeast.

Futurecast hints at those storm chances tonight. You can see how temperatures will climb quickly into the 90s this afternoon. Even hotter weather is likely tomorrow, with a large patch of 100s in central KELOLAND expected. More 100 degree heat is forecast on Saturday, with one more round of heat likely in the southeast on Sunday.
The extreme heat should diminish early next week and rain chances will increase at times. The exact timing and placement of the heaviest rain will be watched in the coming days.
Here are the details of the forecast.
