IGA SWIATEK used her phone to send a text immediately after progressing to the US Open quarter-final.
The world No.2 beat Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-3 6-1 at Flushing Meadows.

And before she even began her on-court TV interview, Swiatek picked up her phone to send a text.
Asked who she was messaging, Swiatek told the interviewer: “Just my coach.
“I asked him to book like 10 minutes of the practice courts if it’s possible.”
Switaek will head into the quarter-final as the favourite with either Amanda Anisimova or Beatriz Haddad Maia up next.
Better still, Switaek will avoid both Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula until the final.
The Pole has continued her good form from the summer when she won Wimbledon.
She is also a previous US Open champion, having won the final at Arthur Ashe in 2022.
Since then, Swiatek has not made it back to the semifinals, losing in the fourth round in 2023 and the quarter-finals last year.
The US Open has had moments of controversy this year with fans snatching merch at seemingly every moment possible.
World No.1 Jannik Sinner almost had his bag snatched by a spectator while it was still on his back.
A fan sitting courtside appeared to try and zip open Sinner’s bag before security quickly intervened.
The 2025 Wimbledon winner looked to have been taking a selfie with a fan at the time after giving his towel away to another supporter.
But he shook his head in anger after being alerted to the fan who had tried to open up his bag.
Earlier in the tournament, a Polish millionaire businessman hit unwanted headlines after a controversial cap-nabbing incident.
After shocking Russian No.9 seed Karen Khachanov in the second round last Thursday, Kamil Majchrzak signed autographs for fans in New York.
Majchrzak, who saved five Khachanov match points, was filmed on camera removing his cap and trying to hand it to a child called Brock, who was in the crowd on Court 11.
Yet a brazen onlooker who was stood next to the boy swiped the item instead and quickly stuffed it into his own bag.
Majchrzak, 29, was unaware of the shocking incident at the time and the kid looked devastated as the man next to him left with the piece of sporting memorabilia.
Footage of the incident went viral and sparked outrage on the internet and the guy – who was branded “selfish” and a “jerk” – was allegedly identified as a Polish millionaire CEO.
