The product impacted by the recall is the Sprout Organics, Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach baby food pouch.

Investigators found the item contained “elevated levels of lead.”

Lead exposure can pose serious health effects to young children, in particular.

It can slow growth and development, as well as causing damage to the brain and nervous system.

Lead exposure can also impact a child’s performance at school.

Children who have been exposed to lead can underperform and affect IQ, as per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Shoppers have been urged to take the product back to where they bought it so they can get a refund.
