This breast milk ice cream is the result of a partnership between Frida, a parent product company, and OddFellows, a small-batch ice cream company based in New York.
The Frida company is known for its baby, mom and fertility products.
The pair has released the limited-edition flavor nationwide, but it is not made with actual breast milk.
The ice cream is merely supposed to mimic the flavor of breast milk, and has been described by Frida in a statement.
The company described its creation as “sweet, a little salty, smooth, with hints of honey and sprinkles of colostrum, and features a distinct colostrum yellow tinge”.
In the ingredients list, also provided by Frida, the company notes some of the main ways the ice cream gets its flavour and look.
The product contains salted caramel flavoring, honey syrup and yellow food coloring.
But Frida has also revealed that the ice cream contains many of the same nutrients found in breast milk.
These include “fats (Omega-3 brain fuel!), carbs (energy-boosting lactose), important vitamins (iron, calcium, Vitamin B and D and zinc), plus lots of H2O for hydration.”
The Frida company shared that their ice cream “will be a pitch perfect representation of the sweet, creamy, nutrient packed goodness we’ve all wanted to try but have been afraid to ask.”
SOCIAL MEDIA STORM
On social media, countless people have been left shocked by the breast milk ice cream.
On Instagram, dozens of comments have expressed confusion.
One person wrote: “Wait so is this made from breastmilk??”
And another said: “Love Frida but terrible ad.

Frida, describing the ice cream
“Can’t tell if serious and confused if product is made from breast milk or for breast feeding moms.”
But others praised the marketing team behind the ice cream, calling for them to be given a raise for their creativity.
Another clip from Instagram shows the marketing team driving a huge silo around with “Breast Milk Ice Cream” in huge letters on the side.
An enthusiastic customer added: “As a marketing professional, your whole marketing team needs raise. This is a (liquid) gold campaign.”
While someone else chimed in: “Give the entire marketing department a huge bonus.”
