Ford issues ANOTHER car recall on 100,900 popular models over dangerous airbag issue

FORD has announced that over 100,000 cars may have dangerously defunct airbags after the car company has become embedded in a flurry of recalls this year.

One of Ford‘s most popular models is affected.

The Department of Transportation said that 100,900 Ford Rangers, ranging in years 2024 to 2026, are being recalled after a side airbag issue.

The side curtain airbags did not meet safety requirements.

The federal agency said that the faulty airbag increases the risk of an injury if the car is involved in a crash.

Drivers affected by the recall will be notified via mail, and can take their cars to a Ford or Lincoln dealership.

There, a “protective shield” will be put between the side curtain airbag and the inner sheet metal, according to the DOT.

The install is needed on both the right and left side, and customers will not be charged for the service.

Ford said they were not aware of any claims or reports connected to the defect.

Letters are expected to start being mailed on September 8.

RAINING RECALLS

Quality issues have seemingly plagued the car company, which has reported more than 100 recalls this year.

The amount is the most ever recorded for any automaker in a single year.

Just last week, nearly 500,000 vehicles were recalled for a brake defect.

The car’s brake pedals might require more pressure, meaning it could take vehicles longer to stop.

The Ford Edge SUV, model years 2015 through 2018, and the Lincoln MKX, built from 2016 through 2018 were recalled for the problem.

Ford said it had identified 64 warranty claims, 16 customer complaints, and three field reports on the brakes.

Top Ford recalls in 2025

FORD has issued a historic number of recalls so far this year.

Here’s a look at some of the most significant safety announcements that affected millions of the brand’s vehicles.

  • In August, 355,000 models, including the F-550 SC, F-450 SD, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, and the 2025 F-150, were recalled over issues with the instrument safety panel
  • Just days prior, over 103,000 F-150s were recalled over an axle fault
  • In July, Ford announced that 700,000 vehicles were at risk of having a fuel leak problem
  • In the same month, over 850,000 Ford cars were found to potentially have a fuel pump defect that could put them at risk of a crash
  • Also in July, 200,000 Ford cars were found to potentially have a software glitch affecting rearview cameras
  • In June, four new Ford recalls were announced over several issues, including brake malfunctions
  • In May, Ford recalled 273,000 cars over a potentially dangerous brake issue
  • In April, 148,000 Ford cars were recalled over fears of a fire risk
  • And in March, the brand recalled one model over gearbox problems

Notices will go out to owners starting September 8 — the same day as the side curtain airbag recall letters.

The automobile maker suggested that about 1% of the recalled cars have the defect.

Ford also just recalled 355,000 of its most popular pickup truck after a panel failure.

The issue affects the instrument panel display, which shows information like speed, fuel levels, and navigation. It also flashes important notices.

The 2025-2026 models include the F-550 SC, F-450 SD, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, and the 2025 F-150.

At least 95 warranty claims were made about the issue, Ford said.
