ESPN will acquire to rights to NFL properties such as NFL Network and NFL Red Zone.
In return the league will receive equity in the company.
The deal was discussed at the top of Good Morning Football on NFL Network on Wednesday.
The show airs at 8 am ET and rivals ESPN’s Get Up!
GMFB host Kyle Brandt was asked for his opinion on the merger with ESPN.
Brandt is the only original member of the cast that began the show in 2016 remaining.
Nate Burleson, Kay Adams and Peter Schrager all moved on to new ventures.
But Brandt threw open the possibility of Schrager making a GMFB return after the merger.
“The excitement of this deal is what it could be,” Brandt said.
“To be teammates with pros I’ve watched for years is exciting for me and exciting for us.
“Not to mention, someday Peter Schrager could rise from the ashes and do a Whiteboard Wednesday segment.
“That is intoxicating for me.”
Schrager joined ESPN last year, leaving his other two roles.
As well as appearing on GMFB, he was also a regular on Fox’s NFL coverage.
Schrager appeared on Fox NFL Kickoff at 11 am ET on Sundays in the fall.
That show was followed onto air by Fox NFL Sunday at noon ET featuring Michael Strahan and Terry Bradshaw.
Brandt shared a clip of his segment on GMFB Wednesday on X.
Schrager was presenting Get Up! on ESPN at the same time.
But he replied “Wait. What?” to Brandt’s tweet.
And he also shared a GIF of The Undertaker sitting up in a WWE ring.
