Fox announces brand new streaming service ahead of new NFL season costing $19.99-a-month

FOX is set to launch its direct-to-consumer streaming service.

Fox One will be available to customers on August 21, ahead of the NFL season.

The streaming service will cost $19.99 per month, but pay TV subscribers will get free access, according to CEO Lachlan Murdoch.

Fox One will house all of the Fox TV portfolio.

This means, live sports like NFL, MLB, and Nascar will appear on the service.

Starting on September 4, Fox One subscribers will be able to watch the network’s NFL games.

College football games will also be available on Fox One.

Fox owns the right to MLB postseason games as well, which will feature on the service.

What Fox One won’t have is exclusive and original content, according to Murdoch.

“It’s important to remember that our subscriber expectations or aspirations for Fox One are modest,” Murdoch said.

Much of the business plan surrounding Fox One is to not trample on the network’s pay TV subscriber base.

Murdoch said the streaming service would be “healthy and not a discounted price” when it was first announced.

That was in order to not cause customers to abandon their pay TV packages.

However, Fox will look to package Fox One with other streaming services.

Murdoch said the company is going to be careful in this pursuit as to not hurt the pay TV subscriber base.

“Sometimes those two things conflict with each other,” he said.
