Fox NFL Sunday star abruptly absent from Week 4 show as Michael Strahan claims ‘he’s taking a nap’

FOX analyst Rob Gronkowski was a no-show for NFL Sunday – prompting a cheeky quip from colleague Michael Strahan.

The 36-year-old New England Patriots legend was not present for the early stages of Sunday’s show.

Gronkowski has become a popular member of the Fox crew since his NFL retirement in 2022.

The former tight end is a regular on NFL Sunday and it’s sister show NFL Kickoff.

And his busy schedule meant he wasn’t able to make the early portion of Sunday’s preview show.

Strahan was joined by Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long for the taping.

And it was Steelers legend Bradshaw who was the first to address the elephant in the room.

“Where’s Gronk today?” asked a nonplussed Terry just seconds into the show.

“He’s at home,” replied a razor-sharp Strahan, to laughter from Howie Long.

“He’s taking a nap, he’s sleeping.”

Host Curt Menefee confirmed Gronk would be back in the studio “later in the day.”

Gronkowski has joined up with former Pats teammate Tom Brady for a host of appearances this season.

The pair lit up the screen during Week 2 as Brady joined the NFL Sunday crew for their post-game show.

Gronk and Brady formed a brilliant partnership on the field during their time with the Pats and Buccaneers.

They won four Super Bowl rings together over a storied career.

And Gronk declared it was “dinner on me” as he looked back to a “million dollar catch.”

Gronk went into the final game of the 2021 season closing in on a huge incentive bonus.

And Brady helped his old pal get paid, farming him the ball and bagging Gronk a remarkable $1million pay check.

“I do know something about forcing a ball to a receiver with a hefty incentive,” Brady quipped, discussing the Philadelphia Eagles use of receiver AJ Brown.

“My guy, I had to get you one catch for a million bucks,” he smiled, turning to Gronk beside him.

“I still appreciate it to this day,” replied the tight end with a huge grin.

“It’s dinner on me tonight.”
