A sign on the pump read: “Thank you from my family and i for your continuous support. Customer appreciation day is to let our customers know how thankful we are to be a part of this great community and their loyalty.”
“Actually was on my way to work, [and] said, ‘Let me swing in, get some chips,’” Zrlina Hannah told ABC affiliate WXYZ.
She was not prepared to see the price change while on her quick trip to the Michigan BP gas station.
“[I] looked up and was like, $1.99 gas?”
The last time the average price of gas dropped below $2 nationally was in March 2020, right at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before that, it hadn’t been lower than $2 for four years, according to AAA.
“I’m sure he’s gonna be jammed… from cars coming from everywhere,” Hannah said.
Owner Hassan Beydoun has owned the shop for two years, and wanted to thank customers.
“This is our way, me and my family’s way to give back and show our support back to this community,” he told the outlet.
“We still sustained the same amount of business throughout the construction, our number did not go down, so it shows you the loyalty of our service and our customers.”
