General Hospital preview leaves fans convinced show ‘finally’ kills off villain after ‘horrible’ storyline backlash

GENERAL Hospital has released a preview for the next episode, and fans think it includes a telling clue that a villain has finally been killed off.

Fans were left with a major cliff-hanger during the September 2 episode when character Drew Cain, portrayed by Cameron Mathison, was shot in the back at his home.

While Drew’s fate remains unknown, as well as that of his mystery assailant, fans think the trailer might have hinted that he died.

In the clip posted to the show’s official Instagram page, Drew is seen still lying unconscious and bloodied at the scene of the attack.

It also shows Carly (Laura Wright) admitting that she made a “huge mistake with Drew, while Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) and Trina (Tabyana Ali), who were inside the home, hide from the gunmen.

“Glad he is gone! Hope to never see this version of Drew again!!!” one viewer wrote in the comments.

“Finally. I hope Drew is eliminated for good. Please don’t let them recover from this. Signed GH fans who’ve had enough,” said another.

“I can’t believe it finally happened!!!” a third remarked.

“I knew he was going to get shot because so many threatened it lol Finally, Bye Bye Drew!!!” chimed in a fourth.

SO OVER IT

Fans have previously complained about the “who done it” storyline and have long pleaded for Cameron’s character to get the axe.

Drew’s poor treatment of his daughter, Scout, and his affair with Willow Corinthos nee Tait are just some reasons their calling for the characters’ removal from the series.

However, Cameron supported the show’s direction with his character, even though fans are rooting for him to get canned.

“Obviously, everybody hates me like crazy, but at the same time, they had to do that for the last four or five months,” the actor told Soap Opera Digest following the latest episode.

“They can’t just have people not like me. They have to have people want to kill me!”

Cameron added, “And in order to have multiple people want to kill you, you’ve got to be pretty despicable — and they’ve done a really good job with that with Drew!”

The TV star also confessed he’s “leaned into” playing the villain, although he assures that he’s nothing like his character.

The Cast of Your Favorite Soap Operas

From The Young and The Restless and General Hospital to Days of our Lives and The Bold and The Beautiful, soap operas are a must-watch for daytime TV lovers. Below is more on the casts of these shows.

“I go to work and get to be such a jerk — it’s almost like my little fantasy escape,” the All My Children alum shared.

“I don’t know if it’s good for my psyche or not, but I’ve really leaned into it!”

Before Cameron took over the role of Drew in 2021, Billy Miller portrayed the villain from 2014 to 2019.

Billy voluntarily left the show when his contract expired in 2019, and Cameron stepped in to replace him.

General Hospital airs weekdays at 2:00 p.m. on ABC.
