Preferred sources are rolling out across several regions.

Google announced that it began on August 12, 2025, in the US and India, with broader availability to follow.

It takes less than a minute to prioritise The U.S. Sun in Google Search. You can also use this easy shortcut.

  • Open Google in your browser or the Google app.
  • Search for any topic so a Top Stories box appears.
  • Tap or click the small icon to the right of “Top Stories”.
  • When prompted, search for “The U.S. Sun”.
  • Select The U.S. Sun page. You should start seeing more of our articles in Top Stories when we’ve published fresh, relevant coverage for your search.

  • A dedicated “From your sources” section: Google also adds a “From your sources” carousel on the results page so you can jump straight to the newest articles from outlets you’ve chosen.
  • Your search stays balanced: Google still shows a mix of publishers. Preferred sources nudge more of your favourites into view — it doesn’t hide other reporting.

  • Check you’re signed in: Preferred sources are tied to your Google account. Make sure you’re logged in.
  • Try a different news topic: The Top Stories box only appears on queries with recent coverage.
  • Update the Google app: On your mobile device, install the latest version and try again.
  • Region rollout: If the icon isn’t there yet, the feature may not be live in your area. It’s expanding, so check back soon.
  • Refresh and repeat: After adding The U.S. Sun, refresh the page. If Top Stories doesn’t update immediately, give it a little time — the change is automatic.
