A green pit viper wrapped around the front of a parked car in Phetchabun has stirred excitement among lottery hopefuls, who believe the incident may bring luck ahead of the upcoming draw.
The snake was discovered yesterday, September 14, in front of a convenience store near a U-turn by the shrine in Si Thep district. Rescue workers from Kok Sai Phong Lai 20 were called to assist after the snake was spotted entangled near the vehicle’s licence plate.
On arrival, the team found the viper coiled around the front grille of a car. The vehicle owner said they had no idea how long the snake had been there or where it came from. Rescue workers safely removed the pit viper, which was later released nearby.
As news of the incident spread, lottery enthusiasts took keen interest in the car’s licence plate number, 3243, hoping it might bring good fortune in the next draw. Many locals gathered at the scene to snap photos and share the number on social media.
In Thai culture, unusual animal sightings, especially those involving snakes, are often seen as omens of luck, particularly when they coincide with significant dates such as lottery draws.
A similar incident took place ahead of the September 1 draw, where a green pit viper appeared at the doorstep of a man’s home for three consecutive nights, sparking another wave of lottery excitement.
The incident, which began on August 28, was shared on Facebook, where the homeowner referred to the snake as a “little Naga guarding the entrance.”
Locals quickly turned their attention to the man’s house number, hoping it might bring good fortune. Suggested lottery number combinations included 78, 780, 782, and 786.
The homeowner, identified as Chaiya, said the snake showed no signs of aggression. After alerting his family to avoid disturbing it, he believed it had safely returned to the forest each morning.
