The pair were driving down Interstate 55 in St. Louis after a hocket game at the Affton Ice Rink.

At around 10:30 pm, a stray bullet entered the car and hit Brown.

He died four days later in the hospital.

Reports now show that the target of the bullet was another car.

At least one person is under investigation for their involvement in the shooting.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, an Audi opened fire on the road.

The vehicle that was targeted by the Audi was hit 26 times.

However, one bullet went across the road and hit Brown.

Documents do not show why the Audi opened fire, but they can reveal that it was part of a drug investigation.

Authorities unsealed a federal drug distribution indictment that included nine people in the investigation.

The group was accused of transporting drugs from Mexico and offloading them near St. Louis.

The investigation claims thousands of dollars and “large quantities” of cocaine were exchanged.

According to the Post-Dispatch, authorities were on the trail of the group for months before the fatal shooting.

Members phones were tapped and informants were working for the authorities.

On the day of Brown’s shooting, someone labeled “KA” was set to buy cocaine from a man named Christopher Taylor near St. Louis.

KA allegedly picked Taylor up, drove downtown, picked up the drugs, and dropped off Taylor before getting on Interstate 55.

That is where the shooting took place.

Garrett Jordan was charged with first-degree murder relating to Brown’s death.

Donovan Baucom was also charged in the case.

Baucom confessed to driving the Audi, but claimed Jordan was the gunman.

A third person, Diamond Baucom, was also charged with murder.
