Yes, you read that right, Julie Bowen’s character of Virginia Happy – Adam Sandler’s on-screen wife – gets killed off in the sequel.
Not only is she callously killed, but it happens just minutes into the movie.
Reacting to the beginning of the movie that sees Virginia get killed, fans have rushed to social media.
One fumed on X, “Happy Gilmore 2 = Nepotism, the movie. Like, how do you kill off Virginia, then cast your own wife and daughter in the roles?”
“I watched the first 10 minutes. Jesus, that was too much.”
FANS FUME OVER NEW MOVIE
A second person penned, “How in the world did you have Happy Gilmore get rid of Virginia 2 minutes into the movie?!”
While a third chimed in, “Sorry to spoil Happy Gilmore 2, but they killed poor Virginia and brought along a whack load of dumbasses to make it an inane mess. This thing never happened okay?”
“VIRGINIA F***ING DIES IN HAPPY GILMORE 2,” added a fourth.
A fifth then said, “40 minutes in happy Gilmore 2 … Kelsey Plum was first indication it’s gonna be a flop… Also WAAAY tooo many athletes and celebrities just ruining lines… just hire actors …
“Sucked the energy out seeing Virginia die off rip. John Daly and Shooter are the 2 bright spots.”
While a sixth wrote, “Bro 3 minutes into #HappyGilmore2 and Virginia died, wtf kind of bs writing is that.”
And a seventh fumed, “So……ya got us all excited about the movie, and that Happy is still with Virginia….. but
“@AdamSandler, what made you think it was a good idea to kill her off, with a GOLF BALL, within the first 5 minutes?
“Gotta be honest, that almost made me wanna turn it off.”
