Over 700,000 people attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which takes place on August 1-10 in the small town and surrounding Black Hills region.

The event began in 1938 with only a handful of riders, but has risen in popularity since, drawing in thousands of motorcycle drivers and thrill-seekers.

Attendees look forward to motocross, drag races, stunt riding, and live music during the ten-day event.

Colby Raha made history when he landed the impressive 205-foot jump in front of thousands of attendees, as reported by USA Today

The rider drove 80 miles per hour towards the jump ramp on a 550-pound V-Twin Harley-Davidson Sportster.

It’s been a popular model for over six decades, known for its versatility and adaptability, appealing to a wide range of riders.

The Sportster S, introduced in 2021, features a liquid-cooled Revolution Max 1250T engine, a departure from the older air-cooled engines.

The Sportster has a wide appeal and has been a favorite for both male and female riders, and is a popular pick for stunt riding.

“You don’t see anyone else lining up to do this,” said Raha.

“This jump at the Thunderdome in Sturgis channeled the spirit of Evel Knievel, an absolute legend of the sport. And I’m beyond stoked to have landed it as part of my Record Breakers event,” Raha said.

“It was a dream to push the limits at the Thunderdome, and I felt really dialed in the whole time.”

“I’m grateful for the support from Rockstar Energy and all the partners who helped make this world record attempt possible,” he added.

It took the rider four attempts to successfully land the jump.

Before Raha took the title, stunt performer Seth Enslow held it for nearly 15 years.
