The Pitt covers one hour of a single 15-hour emergency department shift at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital.
It is similar to the format Keifer Sutherland’s hit show 24 used, and it stars Noah Wyle, Patrick Ball, and Katherine LaNasa.
But now it has been revealed that cast member Tracy Ifeachor, who plays Dr. Heather Collins in Season 1 will not be returning for the next Season.
Speaking to Variety, sources have revealed: “The decision was made by the show’s creative team; Ifeachor is not leaving The Pitt of her own accord.”
Fans have branded the decision a ‘big mistake’ with some taking to social media to express their frustrations.
One user said: “ WHAT? She plays one of the best characters on the show.”
Another added: “Well that’s disappointing. I liked her. She could really convey a lot of emotion on her face.”
“Well they need to fire the creative team and rehire her,” commented a third.
Whilst a fourth chimed: “This is a big mistake” and another added: “We barely got to know her!”
In the show Dr. Heather Collins, who is a senior resident at the fictional hospital, forms a relationship with series lead Dr. Michael Robinavitch played by Noah.
In a shocking show storyline her character reveals to him she was pregnant with his child and had an abortion – this comes after we see her attempt to have a child through IVF without a partner.
Back in May, the actress spoke to PEOPLE about her role and Heather’s relationship with Dr Robinavitch.
She said: “It’s like when two people should just be able to get it together and be together, but for some reason they just keep missing each other.”
Earlier this week the British actress took to Instagram and hinted that she was leaving the hit show.
In the video post, she said: “What a blessing to be a part of this first and foundational season of #ThePitt on @hbomax.
“It was an absolute privilege to play Dr. Heather Collins in such a groundbreaking season and piece,”
Adding the caption: “Thank you to everyone who has watched & supported Season 1 & shared their stories with me.”
