Heart-stopping moment pro golfer plays ball from lake just yards from watchful ALLIGATOR

GOLFER Vince Whaley had to play a shot just yards away from an ALLIGATOR.

Whaley took off his shoes and socks to play his third shot at the par 5 11th while the gator watched on.

And he amazingly managed to save par despite the presence of his special guest at the Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi.

Whaley said: “Well, thankfully my back was to him so I could focus on the shot for a second.”

And had the gator moved?

“The plan was to get the hell out of the water,” Whaley said.

Whaley finished tied for third at 17-under with a five-under par final round of 67, five shots behind Steven Fisk who captured his first PGA Tour title.

Fisk said: “I came out today with an attitude that nothing was going to stop me from what I wanted, no matter what happened, no matter what shots I hit.

“I just felt like I’d be standing right here, right now before today started.

“I know I’m good enough — I thought I could do it,” he said. “It’s a lifelong dream.

“Honestly, sometimes you doubt yourself, but like I said, I knew I could do it. And to have some job security is pretty nice.

“It’s been a long, hard year.”

The 183rd-ranked rookie closed with his final birdie of the day to clinch a win that earned him (£800,000) ($1m).
