The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a weather forecast highlighting heavy rainfall across 32 provinces in Thailand, with a significant downpour expected in 60% of Bangkok. Residents in seven provinces are cautioned about potential flash floods and overflowing banks on July 30.
Upper northern, northeastern, central, and eastern regions are predicted to experience heavy rain in isolated areas, particularly in Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Tak, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, and Nakhon Phanom.
These areas are advised to be alert to the risks of heavy and accumulated rainfall, which could lead to flash floods, forest runoffs, and riverbank overflows, especially in hilly terrains and low-lying areas near water channels.
The current weather conditions are influenced by a low-pressure area over upper Vietnam and a moderate southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand result in waves of about 2 metres, exceeding that height during thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the lower Andaman Sea experiences waves between 1 and 2 metres high. Mariners are advised to operate with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms.
For the north, scattered thunderstorms are expected in 60% of the area, with heavy rain anticipated in Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Tak, Uttaradit, and Phitsanulok. Temperatures will range from 23°C to 35°C with southwest winds at 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.

The northeast will also see 60% coverage of thunderstorms, particularly heavy in Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani. Temperatures range from 24°C to 35°C with similar wind conditions.
In the central region, thunderstorms are expected in 60% of the area, with heavy rain in Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi and temperatures from 26°C to 34°C.
The east will face similar conditions, with heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chanthaburi, and Trat, and temperatures from 24°C to 34°C. The sea will have waves around 2 metres, exceeding during storms.
The south (eastern coast) will see 30% coverage of thunderstorms, mainly in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, with temperatures from 24°C to 36°C. Winds will vary from 20 to 35 kilometres per hour to 15 to 35 kilometres per hour, with waves 1 to 2 metres high, increasing during storms.
The south (western coast) will also have 30% coverage of thunderstorms, mostly in Ranong, Phangnga, and Phuket, with temperatures from 24°C to 34°C, reported KhaoSod.
Bangkok and the surrounding areas are expected to have thunderstorms covering 70% of the area, with temperatures ranging from 26°C to 35°C and southwest winds at 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.
