Colton Mims was playing for Lakeshore High School against Kalamazoo Central when he was tackled the floor during a play.
No. 73 for Kalamazoo was seen clambering back to his feet in video that quickly went viral.
With Mims still lying on the turf, the player – noticeably larger than the grounded 15-year-old – pancaked him with a second body slam.
The teen was carted from the field and treated for two fractures in his spine, per WWMT.
“I’ve never felt anything like it,” Mims’ mom Courtney, who was on the sideline, told the outlet.
“I’ve never been as upset or shaken up as I was over something for my son.
“These boys are high school boys. They’re 15 years old.
“The game means a lot to them. It’s their whole life right now.
“They’re there from before I get up to go to work in the morning till after dinner, putting in the work and for somebody to try to take that from somebody doing so much is awful for me to see.”
Mims confirmed that her son is expected to make a “full recovery”.
But his fledgling football career could already be at an end.
“He’s out at least for this season,” she continued.
“We don’t know if he’s going to be able to play again.
“He should and will make a full recovery.”
