RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) –The Hills Alive festival by LifeLight is underway for its 40th anniversary in Rapid City.
The event brings people together through community, faith and music.
After saving this event last year, LifeLight is excited to bring even more in year two as the Hills are Alive festival celebrates 40 years.

“Really it’s a community event and we need the community to put on something like this. So it’s not all about LifeLight, It’s about the Black Hills community and this is an incredible community to get to officially be a part of from the other side of the state.” LifeLight CEO Josh Brewer said.
For many, this is a yearly tradition of gathering together to listen to music, and it continues to grow with new people attending each year.

“It’s really fun to see how many people gather together and just how many people you know. So like you’ll see people that you know from any sort of scenario and I think it’s fun that we all come together for the same thing. To hear Christian music and I think it’s really awesome.” First Time Attendee Isabel Grinager said.
Every year the two day event will see more than 40,000 people, with a wide variety of music for everyone to enjoy.
“Our heart at LifeLight Hills Alive is to make sure that there’s something out here for everybody. So we have a bunch of different genres of music. We have some rock, some hip-hop, some country music, some worship music. There’s a kids’ area with a bunch of inflatables. There’s something out here for people of all ages and for all walks of life.” Brewer said

“So since there are different singers every year, I think it’s something fresh and something new for people who have gone for multiple years and for the new people too. I like how they have older music and newer music for the old generation and for Gen Z. So the different genres meet different people so it’s really good.” Returning Attendee Meghan Haas said
Hills Alive continues tomorrow with even more bands and events starting at noon, running all day long.
