THE Cleveland Browns ambitious new stadium plans may finally have liftoff.
Ohio transportation regulators had been concerned about the $3.6billion venue’s proposed height disrupting air traffic.

A new $3.6 billion stadium had been denied by planners due to it’s proximity to an airport[/caption]
But the decision has now been reversed following a review[/caption]
The Browns are looking to build near to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.
A permit for the stadium was declined last month by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).
There were worries the stadium’s planned height of 221 feet would disrupt approaching aircraft.
The Browns appealed the decision, with a permit successfully granted following a review.
A third-party consultant found the stadium’s construction would not divert any flight paths, per Front Office Sports.
The venue will also be fitted with roof lighting required by the Federal Aviation Administration.
“All along, our goal has been to ensure that all concerns were heard and addressed, and a resolution could be found,” ODOT director Pamela Boratyn said in a statement.
“We respect both the comprehensive work that the FAA did to determine that our stadium project poses no hazard to the surrounding area and ODOT’s diligent process to confirm these findings,” said Dave Jenkins, president of Browns owner Haslam Sports Group.
“Safety is of paramount importance to all of us.
“It was at the forefront of our detailed and deliberate process with our FAA consultants, who we engaged with well before our architects began designing the stadium.”
The Browns intend to break ground on the new stadium early next year.
They are targeting an opening in 2029 after the expiration of their current lease at Huntington Bank Field.
But the organization may yet have some hurdles in the way.
They are still hoping to seal $300 million in public funding.
