TODAY host Hoda Kotb has broken her silence on the reason behind her split from Joel Schiffman.
The 61-year-old has opened up about the breakdown of her relationship with the New York-based financier in her new book.

Hoda split from her ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman after eight years together following their engagment in 2019.
Hoda first confirmed she and Joel had ended their engagement on January 31, 2022, breaking the news during an episode of the Today show.
Now, speaking about them parting ways in her new book Jump and Find Joy: Embracing Change in Every Season of Life, she said: “Our decision to part wasn’t one that we took lightly, but we knew it was the right one.”
“It came from a place of love, not anger, which makes a big difference,” she added.
As well as dealing with a breakup the pair have also been managing co-parenting.
Hoda and Joel adopted two daughters, Haley Joy, 8, and Hope Catherine, 6.
She had told Schiffman that she wanted to explore adoption a year into the pair’s relationship.
She revealed in her book that Joel was overjoyed about the thought of adopting, she wrote: “Joel looked me in the eye, and without blinking, replied, ‘I don’t need a minute, and the answer is yes.”
“ I literally fell onto his chest and wept.
“I sobbed, my tears a huge release of relief and gratitude. It was one of the first times I said the word ‘adoption’ out loud.”
Opening up about co-parenting her daughters with Joel on Today, she said: “You just have to be honest about it.”
“Kids catch pretending. They know that Joel and I care so much for each other, and they also know that we love them dearly,”
“And I think it’s about carving out time. It’s not his time, my time. It’s our time. That’s how we do it.”
Speaking about how the family manage days altogether, Hoda explained: “We’ll do a barbecue. He’ll give the girls a kiss. He says, ‘See you in the morning,’ He’ll come back in the morning. … I think they understand your vibe.
“I really adore Joel, and they know it. I’m not pretending, I’m not faking it.
“So, once they see that, they go, ‘Ah, OK. This is good. This is good for us.’”
