Home Depot is selling a tiny home kit for $37,999 – but Amazon has an identical house for over $20,000 cheaper

BUYING a house is usually rather expensive, but thanks to the boom in tiny homes, it could be more affordable than you think.

Home Depot is selling a tiny home kit for $37,999 – and there is also an identical one on Amazon for a whopping $20,000 cheaper.

The sleek prefab home features floor-to-ceiliing glass windows and has a modern interior.

You can choose from a customizable 20ft or 40ft design, and choose from up to four bedrooms.

It also comes with a full bathroom and kitchen, which can be designed to suit your needs.

Typically the home takes four to six hours to set up, and it can be unfolded and expanded from a compact space to a larger living area, which can “triple” the original floor space.

The Home Depot tiny home looks perfect for those looking to be close to nature, or to have an extra living space on their home for guests.

However, the very similar Amazon version costs just $17,470, which makes for a remarkable saving.

It is said to be built with “durable” materials, including “weather-resistant steel” and it is insulated with materials like spray foam or rock wool.

While $17,470 is not cheap, it could be a way of getting on the property ladder.

Considering the average house price in the US in 2024 was $510,300, you’d be making a huge saving – and it arrives with the click of a button.

You could also use the home to rent out for some extra cash, or to house visiting friends and family.

TINY HOME TREND

Tiny homes have boomed in popularity in the United States over the past decade, mainly down to affordability and sustainability reasons, and the desire for minimalist living.

They offer a path to homeownership for those unable to afford larger properties or who wish to avoid debt.

Millennials and Generation X are the primary adopters of tiny homes, with the majority of tiny home dwellers being between 30 and 50 years old.

The tiny home market has grown over the past decade, and is projected to reach $23.7 billion by 2026.
