A one-time rebate is available to Americans who paid property taxes on their homes.

Those who paid $1,200 will be in line to pocket a $400 payment, according to the Montana Department of Revenue

Homeowners across Montana are entitled to the one-time relief measure.

There is a strict eligibility criteria as homeowners must’ve lived in the property for at least seven months during 2024.

Renters are blocked from applying for the payment, according to the terms of the program.

And, applications can be submitted up until October 1.

Homeowners can submit their application form online, or mail it.

Montana officials have provided an update on when homeowners are expected to receive their payment.

Americans could start receiving their checks within 30 days of their applications being processed.

However, those who have filed a paper request might have to wait longer for their check.

Officials estimate that it could take 90 days for paper claims to be processed.

Rebates will be mailed to taxpayers, as opposed to being deposited in bank accounts.

Homeowners can check the status of their rebates by using an online tool available at the Montana Department of Revenue.

Officials have revealed that any payment will not be subject to state income tax.

States offering relief

SEVERAL states are offering relief packages to cash-strapped residents.

New York officials are mailing inflation-busting payments worth up to $400 this fall. Payments will start arriving from October.

While in Georgia, millions of taxpayers have received a check up to $500.

In South Carolina, taxpayers can take advantage of the state’s Palmetto Payback fund, which allows them to seize unclaimed property that belongs to them.

In Illinois, residents are able to claim a share of $45 million in unclaimed property.

Federal officials have not yet announced any stimulus relief yet.

This is despite proposals touted by Senator Josh Hawley, or the Doge dividend that was seemingly endorsed by Elon Musk.

And, for most Americans, the rebate will not be included as part of their federal tax income.

Montana is not the only state where Americans can get a rebate or some form of relief.

Inflation-busting payments, worth up to $400, will be sent out across New York this fall.

Illinois officials are in the process of sending $45 million to 600,000 people across the state.

And, residents don’t have to complete a form or send an application to get the money that is owed to them.

“The first thing we tell people, is this – the money belongs to you, the check is real, and this is not a scam,” Michael Frerichs, the state treasurer, said he as unveiled the program in July.

Most people in the state will pocket $50 each, but some checks may be larger.

In the spring, officials in Georgia announced how taxpayers across the state would be receiving a rebate worth up to $500.

In Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis proposed a property tax rebate of $1,000 for homeowners across the state.

Under his proposals, the checks would be issued in December.

And around five million people are in line to benefit.
