Horror moment man sets himself on FIRE at busy airport in front of screaming travellers after ‘missing his flight’

THIS is the terrifying moment a screaming man sets himself ablaze at a busy airport in front of horrified staffers – after reportedly missing his flight.

The traveller is said to have been in a row with his wife about being unable to buy tickets – before dousing his body in gasoline and torching himself.

In the heart-stopping footage, the customer is seen standing at a desk of a travel agency in Almaty International Airport in Kazakhstan demanding assistance.

The man, who is thought to have been drunk at the time, starts a scene before the receptionist pleads with him to let her leave.

He allows her to go, before an entourage of airport staff members begin to approach the man.

As more and more workers continue to approach him, he makes more threats towards them.

Suddenly, the man bursts into flames and dashes out of the room towards petrified airport employees.

As he rushes at them engulfed in a raging fireball, horrified staffers attempt to put out the fire with an extinguisher.

The passenger is then seen lying on the floor and moaning while covered in white powder – his shirt entirely burned off his body.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital and was left fighting for his life.

The jawdropping footage was captured on August 25 at 10pm in Terminal 1 of the airport.

The boss of the travel agency in which the man set himself on fire shared details of the astonishing ordeal.

The CEO said: “He came in, asked for a phone, started calling someone on it, said that he missed his flight, and then poured gasoline on himself.

“Our agent asked permission to leave, he let her out, and then set himself on fire.

“Our brave employee Ksenia, it’s good that she didn’t panic, she worked clearly and quickly.”

And the company director explained: “He didn’t ask to change the ticket, he just asked for a phone number.

“We don’t know him, he’s just a client, the agent didn’t have a conflict with him.”

An airport employee told Tengrin News the man had begged to purchase a flight ticket.

He entered the office and asked for a phone to ring his wife – but then started pouring gasoline over himself after arguing with her.

He then allowed the female worker to leave the office when she became uncomfortable before torching himself, the staffer confirmed.

It is currently unclear how the man was able to sneak gasoline into an airport.

But it is believed he may have picked it up from a nearby gas station.

A probe has been launched to uncover the comprehensive circumstances of the self-immolation.
