SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Temperatures in South Dakota are going to get hot as we go through the week.
Meteorologist Scot Mundt checked on the last time we’ve hit 100 in KELOLAND.
We’ve had a couple of days of 90-degree heat in KELOLAND this month, but with 100-degree heat on the table this weekend, I went back to the archives to check in on the last time areas of KELOLAND hit the triple digits.

This map shows the last 100-degree day. It happened last year for Chamberlain, Mobridge, Pierre, Rapid City, and Winner.
Otherwise, many had their last 100 in ’23 or ’22.
But Worthington’s last 100 was in 2011 and Sisseton’s last 100 was in 2017.
If you’re not in the 100s, it will feel every bit of 100 thanks to the heat index. That’s the combination of heat and humidity to give us the ‘feels like’ temperature.
It will be a short-lived heat wave as cooler air with better chances for rain return early next week. In fact, some may swing 30 degrees from afternoon highs Sunday to Monday.
