Hotel where Yankees legend Brett Gardner’s son, 14, mysteriously died is raided by authorities in fresh twist

THE hotel where the son of New York Yankees legend Brett Gardner died has been raided.

It was the first search conducted at the Costa Rican hotel since the week after Miller Gardner’s death in March.

Miller, 14, died at the Arenas Del Mar Beachfront and Rainforest Resort from what was determined as carbon monoxide inhalation.

Prosecutor Kenneth Alvarez told ESPN that additional evidence was collected in a three-hour raid.

“Let us remember that what was done at that time was the measurement of toxic substances at the site,” Alvarez said.

“Based on those tests, a second proceeding was scheduled, which was carried out today to collect evidence.”

Three pickup trucks brought agents from Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Department to conduct the raid.

The investigation centers around potential allegations of manslaughter, according to Alvarez.

He told ESPN that authorities searched hotel offices for maintenance and accounting evidence.

As of now, there have been no arrests or charges in relation to the case.

Alvarez said that Public Ministry officials have been in “constant contact with the lawyers that the Gardner family hired in Costa Rica.”

“They knew about the operation, and we have remained in communication,” he said.

Alvarez also revealed that local authorities have been in communication with an FBI attaché in Costa Rica.

The FBI is helping to “guide the initial investigation and learn a bit about the profile of the persons.”

Miller died on March 21 at the Costa Rican resort he was staying at with his family.

Gardner and his wife, Jessica, announced the death of their son two days later in a statement from the Yankees.

The statement revealed that Gardner and other family members fell ill on vacation.

Days after the statement, a representative from the Judicial Investigation Department told ESPN that Miller and family had “gone to eat at a restaurant and that the food had made them sick.”

On April 2, Miller’s cause of death was officially determined to be carbon monoxide.

Authorities said the carbon monoxide may have come from an adjacent machine room.

Miller played high school baseball in South Carolina, wearing his father’s No. 11.

Gardner played 14 MLB seasons, all with the Yankees, and won the World Series in 2009.
