How cold will Labor Day weekend be?

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Meteorologist Scot Mundt is following some big changes in weather after this weekend.

It’s the unofficial end to summer this weekend and people will try to squeeze in some last minute summer activities over the Labor Day holiday. And for good reason, as much cooler air will arrive after the holiday.

On Wednesday a strong cold front will move through the upper plains. This will allow for well below average temperatures to take over KELOLAND.

As of now, computer models are showing highs in the 50s and 60s. That’s around 15 to 20 degrees below the climate averages.

Let’s not forget about the wind. Northerly winds will gust to 30 to 40 mph, which will help bring in the cool air, and that cool air comes with a chance for rain.

But, as we get into Friday and for the weekend, temperatures will slowly rebound. By NEXT weekend we’ll return to highs in the 70s and 80s.
