MATT Roloff’s dream house in Oregon – that he built from the ground up – caused friction in his relationship with Caryn Chandler and contributed to their split, a source told The U.S. Sun.
The Little People, Big World stars stunned fans by ending their engagement in July after eight years together.

Matt announced the shocking split on Instagram, describing it as an amicable decision and the “right step for us at this time.”
But a source has now lifted the lid on what caused the breakdown of their relationship, claiming they fought over the new house, and Caryn often felt disrespected.
“Caryn ended it because Matt didn’t listen to her opinion on certain things,” they told The U.S. Sun.
“She didn’t want to be making choices, but she wanted her input to be respected, and it never was.
“One thing they didn’t agree on was the house. Caryn didn’t think they needed it at first, and then once it was built, all Matt did was complain about it.
“She didn’t feel respected enough to stay and found him quite difficult to be with at times.
“She is also getting older and is hoping to live a drama-free life. There’s a lot of drama surrounding Matt and the family. In the end, it was too much.”
The source claimed Caryn tried to sit Matt down more than once and tell him what she felt needed to change for them to work things out.
She had just worked at it for long enough, and their relationship wasn’t changing.”
Ultimately, she felt it was the right decision to call time on their relationship and move on.
“She ended it in person, and they actually broke up about a month before Matt’s Facebook post,” the source added.
“There was no specific moment that tipped things. She had just worked at it for long enough, and their relationship wasn’t changing.”
Matt had worked for months on the construction of the pair’s dreamhouse on the family farm in Oregon, which had only just been completed before the split.
The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal Matt dropped a whopping $1,461,520 on the construction.
According to public records, he spent $397,500 in 2023 and $1,064,020 in 2024 on improvements to the property.
He began building the single-family residence in 2023 and completed construction in 2024.
The home boasts three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and is 3,949 square feet.
In October 2023, Matt showed off his kitchen in the house, as he installed low countertops and a sink for him to be able to reach.
He also revealed the house had a standard kitchen for Caryn, who is not a little person.

Matt and Caryn also spent time in Arizona during their relationship, where they had a vacation home.
The TLC couple began dating in 2017 and got engaged two years ago, but they never made it to the altar.
In July, Matt, 63, wrote an emotional post on Instagram, telling followers, “Hi everyone, I have some tough news to share…… Caryn and I have decided to part ways & end our engagement.
“Life’s a continued journey, and this is the right step for us at this time.
“We remain amicable and always appreciate the many wonderful memories we have shared.
“Your support means the World to me and I’m committed to moving forward with positivity and trust in the path ahead. Much love to all.”
The U.S. Sun previously revealed they were set to marry last May, but they were forced to push it back after Matt’s mother fell ill.
An insider at the time said they were discussing tying the knot in Hawaii and wanted an “intimate ceremony.”
But it likely wouldn’t have been filmed, as Little People, Big World was canceled by TLC after 25 seasons in November 2024.

The cancellation came after Matt’s son Zach and daughter-in-law Tori revealed they would not be returning to the series.
Tori said on an episode of their podcast Raising Heights, “Let’s just talk about the elephant in the room. Are we coming back to Little People, Big World?”
Zach, who had been on the show for many years, responded, “We are not. We made that pretty clear the last cycle.”
Tori added, “But I don’t think it’s been officially announced to people like we are not coming back to Little People, Big World. We are done. That part in our lives, that chapter has closed.”
The show would be difficult to film without the stars, as the only characters who remained were Matt and Caryn, and his ex-wife Amy and her husband Chris Marek.
Matt and Amy’s other children, Jeremy, Molly, and Jacob, along with their spouses, had not been on recent seasons.
