How the New York Jets plan on making London feel like just like home for Denver Broncos showdown

THE New York Jets are pulling all the stops to make their London stop feel just like MetLife Stadium for their matchup with the Denver Broncos.

The Jets are hosting a London game for the first time in their franchise history in Week 6.

The Jets will be playing in their fifth international game and fourth in London.

But, finally, Gang Green will host a game for the first time away from the US, facing the Broncos at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, October 12.

The Jets are up for the challenge to bring their fans an authentic slice of New York to London, both in the pre-game and during the contest.

The Sun got exclusive access to the MetLife Stadium’s pre-game operation before the Jets’ Week 2 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Chris Pierce, Jets Vice President of Fan Commerce, spoke to The U.S. Sun and opened up about how the London game experience will mirror how a MetLife Stadium operation is run on gameday.

“What we’re trying to do is really bring the tailgate zone experience, the pre-game vibe and atmosphere that makes coming to a Jets game a multi-generational, really special experience. We’re trying to transport that to London, and in the space we have at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, we’re very excited,” Pierce said.

“We’ve been there before as a visiting team, so to go back as a home team and really be able to transport the experience, activate the space with Jets branding, bring over the Jets chant.

“That’s something we’re really excited about.”

Since it’s an NFL-run event, the Jets have restrictions on what they can and can’t do for the pregame.

But the Jets received space for a free admission tailgate experience that can copy the team’s usual pre-game buildup, which includes food, drinks, entertainment, and interactive experiences, for fans.

Pierce recommends that fans head to N17 Arena, adjacent to the stadium, at least two hours before kick-off.

“What I would say is, if you are going to the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, go to the pre-game tailgate at N17, because it’s going to be fantastic,” he said.

“Food, beverage sponsor activations, Jets personalities, pre-game vibes that are going to really excite fans before they walk into the building.”

Food is a major deal for fans, and Pierce teased that there could be some “iconic” dishes, possibly MetLife Stadium’s Fat Rooster Hot Chicken Sandwich, waiting for them at the tailgate or game.

“One interesting thing is we’ve been talking to them about trying to bring some of our iconic dishes from MetLife Stadium over there,” he said.

“The food, definitely different. So for Jets fans, I think it’s a unique experience.

“If their season ticket holders here, they get to go and experience some different tastes.

“However, we are trying to bring an iconic item or two over to the fans.”

The Jets are well-known for their iconic chant, “J-E-T-S, Jets! Jets! Jets!, which originated in the 1970s when the franchise played at Shea Stadium.

At the London game, the chant will be led by superfan Rob Fulmer, who’s known as “Jetman”, in a section filled with Jets fans.

Fulmer has been a season-ticket holder since 1992 and regularly wears a green cap with the “Jetman” license plate draped around his neck for games.

“Jetman” went to the Jets’ London game last year, and he got emotional after the Jets told him he would go to London to bring the energy for Gang Green.

“When I got that call from the Jets, I’m like, Hey, you’re gonna run there. We want you to do a chant. Literally, I was, like, all choked up. I was like, ‘Oh my god, like, you know, going to London,’” Fulmer said.

“It was my first time in London last year. It was a great experience. I had such a great time.

“I cannot wait to bring that energy to the stadium.

“I cannot wait to come to the UK and do that chant in that stadium.

“When you hear that chant in that stadium, it’s gonna be like no other team has ever been there.”

Since the Jets are the home team, their own workers, from the audio room team to the video control staff, will work the game.

The Jumbotron will cater to Jets fans and have fancams and a helmet game, among other fun games.

The Jets are expecting an amazing turnout from stateside and UK fans to not only attend the game, but also enjoy events in the days prior.

But all of the stops will be pulled to make sure the Jets have an atmosphere at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which seats 62,850 fans, like it’s East Rutherford, New Jersey.

“It’s nothing we can’t handle. We’re built for this,” Pierce said.

“The game in London will be incredible.

“The atmosphere, based on what we’ve seen in the past, will be terrific.

“And what I’m excited about is the fact that it’s a home game, and having so many Jets fans in the building will be fantastic.”
