HULU has cancelled three shows leaving one star “shocked, heartbroken and baffled” by the brutal move.
How To Die Alone – which premiered with its first season in September last year – is one of the series axed by streaming giant Hulu.
Another that won’t be returning is Wayne Brady: The Family Remix, with the media service also confirming that Solar Opposites will end after its sixth season later this year.
Natasha Rothwell – creator and star of How To Die Alone – shared an emotional reaction to the news her show would not be renewed for a second season.
She said: “I am shocked, heartbroken and frankly, baffled that Onyx has decided not to move forward with a second season of How to Die Alone.
“This is a tough reality to accept because the show is an undeniable critical, creative and award-winning success.”
But Natasha, 44, also gave fans hope by insisting she’s “not giving up”.
She added: “This show took me eight years to bring to life, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned in that time, it’s resilience.
“I’m not giving up. My team and I are committed to finding How to Die Alone a new home because stories like this matter.”
How To Die Alone centres around Melissa, played by Natasha, who is a woman who has never been in love and decides to take control of her life after a near-death experience.
Disappointed fans took to social media to have their say on the decision to cancel the show.
One wrote: “I just binged watch How To Die Alone Season 1 , ain’t no way they gone just gone leave us hanging like that.”
Someone else said: “I pray you find it a new home because @hulu dropped the ball. This is fantastically written, so well executed, and the stories are SO relatable.”
And a third added: “That show deserves another chance!”
