MS NOW host Jonathan Capehart screamed in disgust Sunday after the network’s graphics operator pulled up Vanity Fair’s close-up photograph of Karoline Leavitt, one of a series of photos that have been described as “diabolical” and intentionally unflattering.
“This one I can’t – I can’t look at!” Capehart shouted as several images were pulled up of President Donald Trump’s cabinet members, including one of Leavitt. “He took these extremely tight and vulnerable photos of the vice president, secretary of state and press secretary… I can’t – oh! Whenever I turn, I… guess which one I don’t like?”
Christopher Anderson, the Vanity Fair photographer who captured the now-infamous photos, defended his decision to capture and leave untouched his photographs of Trump’s cabinet members. Leavitt’s photo in particular has garnered attention for what Anderson said “appear to be injection sites” on her lips.
“I didn’t put injection sites on her,” Anderson told The Washington Post. “People seem to be shocked that I didn’t use Photoshop to retouch out blemishes and her injection marks. I find it shocking that someone would expect me to retouch out those things.”
Capehart’s co-host on MS NOW’s “The Weekend,” Eugene Daniels, quipped that he would “not allow” a photographer to photograph his face “that close.”
Leavitt’s photograph was again pulled up from the control room – this time enlarged and by itself – to which Capehart shouted in disgust yet again.
“Oh! Stop!” Capehart exclaimed. “That’s the picture, I can’t – oh, no, oh!”
