Hawk, 57, had made a plea to the public ahead of the auction with the kind of person he hoped would snap it up.

He said: “I hope that it’s someone who truly appreciates it or that that event or that object meant something to them and it’s not just a flex because they have the money.

“I guess that’s what I’m worried about.

“I would be stoked if it’s someone that had a connection to skating or that maybe they’re going to display it somewhere for other people to see.”

The 900 itself is a 2½-revolution (900 degrees) aerial spin performed on a skateboard ramp

After landing the trick, Hawk declared: “This is the best day of my life.”

Hawk also used the board to win gold at the “Vert Doubles” along with Andy Macdonald.

The board was auctioned at Julien’s Auctions in Los Angeles on September 23.

The bidding reached an incredible $1.15m before it was finally sold.

The final price was practically double the presale estimate which was between $500,000 and $700,000.

Other items from the 900 were also sold at the auction.

This included the helmet Hawk wore that was sold for $115,200 and his sneakers, which also fetched $64,000.

His kneepads were also auctioned off for a stunning $57,600.

Hawk has revealed that all the proceeds from the auction will be donated to his nonprofit, the Skatepark Project.

The organization was set up in 2002 to help communities build public skate parks for youth in underserved communities.

Hawk, nicknamed the Birdman, has an estimated net worth of $140million.

In June, a famous skateboarding space under Brooklyn Bridge loved by Hawk reopened after 15 years.

Skateboarding debuted at the Olympics in Tokyo 2020 and returned for the Paris Games in 2024, with Hawk in attendance as Keegan Palmer in the Men’s Park and Arisa Trew in the Women’s Park won Gold.

The sport is set to return for the 2028 Games being held in Los Angeles and is expected to be held at the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area in the San Fernando Valley.

It is the second largest urban park in LA and home to both indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
