Akkshith Sukhija gets in as Abhishek Dewan, the new male lead, replacing Akshun Mahajan, in Colors TV and Rajshri Productions’ show Manpasand Ki Shaadi. Akkshith, who was last seen in Star Plus’ Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar Hua, is excited with this meaty opportunity and is confident of putting his best foot forward.
We at IWMBuzz.com talked exclusively to Akkshith, as he was getting ready for his second day’s shoot for the show.
Talking about replacing Akshun Mahajan, Akkshith says, “It is a tough situation to be in when actors get replaced from ongoing shows. I have seen this happening at many places. Yes, it was a strange feeling. But the best aspect about it was that I was being offered a show by Rajshri Productions. I was excited that it was a Rajshri show, Colors TV show and an ongoing show.”
I took a call in favour of doing the show, as it was a Rajshri Productions show. If it were not their banner, I would have decided differently.
Ask him on what it means to play the lead of a Rajshri Productions show, and he states, “It is a dream surely, to be part of a show of Rajshri Productions. As kids, we have grown up seeing so many films made by this banner. We have emulated Salman Khan Sir’s roles from their films. When I joined TV, I wanted to be a part of the banner. Recollecting my initial days as a fresher, I remember going into their office. After six years, I went to their office for this look test. I have not met Sooraj Barjatya Sir yet. But I look forward to meeting him soon. I can only say that I am blessed that I am part of this company now.”
Speaking on how he got the role, Akkshith says, “I was not keen on taking a TV show now. I have been choosy for the last five to six months, as I was working on something of my own. But when this show came, I felt warm when the CEO of Rajshri Productions, Vishesh Sir, called me and talked to me, addressing me as ‘Beta’. At that point, I did not know that it was an offer for replacement. However, when I got to know about it, I thought about a lot of perspectives. I watched some episodes and understood their requirement for the lead. I took a call in favour of doing the show, as it was a Rajshri Productions show. If it were not their banner, I would have decided differently.”
Talking about Akshun’s work in the show, he says, “Akshun and Esha have given their best to the show. I request their fans to give me one chance to prove my worth in the role. I understand that with this replacement, the pressure is on me, and it is a huge responsibility that I carry. But I am confident of giving my best to the role.”
His first day on the set of Manpasand Ki Shaadi was beautiful. Akkshith describes it, saying, “All the actors were so welcoming. I went into the set feeling jittery. But in quick time, I realised that I was surrounded by a pleasant warmth. Esha Suryawanshi made it extremely easy for me. She came up to me and made me comfortable. I usually need time to mix with people. But this time, it was different, as I was received so warmly on the set.”
Akkshith is his own critic and has learnt a lot by realising his mistakes as a performer. “I am more confident now, having learned quite a lot from my earlier shows. I am eager to deliver as Abhishek Dewan.”
