And that sparked wild scenes of jubilation in the Oklahoma City locker room Sunday night.

Those celebrations also apparently included a first for Williams.

He revealed in his post-game press conference, “Actually just had my first drink, so I’m like working on that.”

Williams was interviewed by ESPN’s Christine Williamson the day after becoming an NBA champion.

He said, “Yesterday was my first time drinking ever.

“I’ve never had a drink up until that point.

“The guys want me to drink, that’s a big thing for them.

“I told them ‘If we win a championship I’ll drink,

“‘I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll drink champagne, we can do shots.’

“As we got close during the season I was like ‘I’m going to have to drink.’

“So I drank a bit, had a couple shots, had champagne, had beer – it was all disgusting.

Williams said he’s going to retire from drinking after his one experience.

But he’s unsure what will happen during the Thunder’s championship parade.

“I’m going to stick to Shirley Temple’s,” he said.

Williams capped an excellent season with the NBA championship.

He was selected in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft by the Thunder.

And the 24-year-old was named to the All-Star Game this year.

The forward has been a key part of the team led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The Thunder finished with a league best 68-14 record in the Western Conference.

And they rounded off a remarkable year with a 4-3 NBA Finals win over the Indiana Pacers.
