Jackley enters race for Congress

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has put his name in the hat to run for Congress.

KELOLAND’s Tyler Louder spoke with Jackley earlier Tuesday before his campaign officially gets underway.

After four terms as Attorney General, Marty Jackley is looking to lead South Dakota as its next representative for Congress.

“Serving as South Dakota’s United States Attorney and Attorney General has prepared me for Washington. It has prepared me to be able to work with other former Attorney Generals who serve in Washington to better protect South Dakotans,” Jackley said.

While the campaign for Congress gets underway, Jackley still has 16 months left of work as the Attorney General. He says that his history and experience shows that he’s able to balance both roles, thanks to the great teams he has both on the campaign side and on the side of his Attorney General team.

“The fight for what is near and dear to us in South Dakota is in Washington. As South Dakota’s conservative choice I’ll strengthen public safety, I’ll secure that southern border, I’ll work to build and maintain a strong national defense. I’ll strengthen our economy, and I’ll hold the Government accountable and protect the taxpayers’ dollars,” Jackley said.

Jackley has already been seeing a lot of statewide support as he prepares for this next move.

“It has been overwhelming. The support across South Dakota has been strong. People want to have a strong conservative voice in Washington and I’ll be that strong voice for South Dakota,” Jackley said.
