Jalandhar in Tumm Se Tumm Tak is poles apart from my earlier loud and brazen characters: Sai Ballal 971006

Veteran actor Sai Ballal has entered Studio LSD’s Zee TV show, Tumm Se Tumm Tak, essaying the role of Jalandhar, a character starkly different from his previous portrayals.

Speaking about the concept of the show, Sai shared, “Being a Mumbaikar, I had already watched the Marathi version, Tula Pahate Re, on Zee Marathi. I found the whole concept interesting and intriguing, and I used to wonder why no one was adapting it into Hindi. Studio LSD eventually took the plunge. As far as the age-gap issue is concerned, it’s very much prevalent in society, and here art is imitating life. Storytellers simply display what exists and what prevails.”

On his approach as an artist, Sai emphasised, “For me, performance is what matters the most — and that too convincingly and diligently, irrespective of the genre.”

Reflecting on his role in Tumm Se Tumm Tak, Sai explained how Jalandhar stands apart from the characters he has portrayed earlier. “Before this, I often played rustic, brash, dhoti-clad roles. But Jalandhar is poles apart — formally dressed, suave, poised, articulate, and dignified. I had to work on my poise and stature and, more importantly, deliver performances that were subtle and real compared to my earlier loud and brazen characters.”

Sai further added that he has given his best to bring authenticity to Jalandhar, hoping that audiences will connect with the character.

This project also marks his continued collaboration with Studio LSD. “I have already worked with Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah on a show called Suman Indori (Colors TV channel), and this is my third project with them — the second being a vertical OTT show. Working under the baton of Studio LSD feels like being with your own family, and that justifies my gratitude and love for Prateek and Parth,” he expressed warmly.

With his entry as Jalandhar, the story of Tumm Se Tumm Tak promises to bring in fresh dynamics, adding depth to the narrative with Sai Ballal’s powerful screen presence. His character comes across as a formidable threat to the protagonist, Aryavardhan (Sharad Kelkar).
