At the premiere event for Netflix‘s upcoming docuseries America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys, Jones let it slip that the Cowboys’ media dominance is no accident.
In fact, it’s all part of his masterplan to make sure Dallas is always on people’s minds.
Jones said candidly: “I do believe if we’re not being looked at then I’ll do my part to get us looked at.”
His comments immediately turned heads, giving fans a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes strategy that fuels the Cowboys’ never-ending presence in the media.
Jones, known for his larger-than-life persona, didn’t hold back, adding: “The beautiful thing for networks or if you will, streaming companies, is that the NFL is a 365-day-a-year interest factory.
“A lot of programming you have to spend as much to promote it as you do to make it.”
The Cowboys, Jones says, are a soap opera and not just any soap opera.
He declared: “The Cowboys are a soap opera 365 days a year. When it gets slow, I’ll stir it up.”
He’s not just talking about the players either. The drama, according to Jones, doesn’t just come from the field.
It’s all about emotions, tension, and of course, controversy.
He continued: “Oh, it’s wonderful to have the great athletes, have the great players, but there’s something more there.

“There’s sizzle, there’s emotion, and if you will, there’s controversy. That controversy is good stuff in terms of keeping and having people’s attention.”
It’s a strategy that’s kept the Cowboys in the spotlight for decades and there’s no sign of it slowing down any time soon.
The NFL, of course, benefits greatly from the attention the Cowboys bring.
Networks and streaming platforms are practically falling over themselves to secure rights to the Cowboys’ content, knowing the franchise will always generate buzz, whether it’s on the field or off it.
