THE Minnesota Vikings have issued an injury update as JJ McCarthy looks to make his return.
McCarthy, 22, has been out of action with an ankle injury suffered during the Vikings‘ 22-6 loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week.

The quarterback suffered a high right ankle sprain during their home defeat.
He missed yesterday’s win against the Cincinnati Bengals as news breaks about his recovery.
It was reported during the broadcast of the Vikings’ game against the Bengals that McCarthy is recovering on schedule.
An initial prognosis suggested that McCarthy would miss four weeks of action.
“I spoke with JJ before the game and he told me his ankle feels great,” CBS’ Tracy Wolfson.
“He is down here, no boot on, walking up and down, and is hoping to get involved sooner, rather than later.”
McCarthy is expected to return in Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles, following the Vikings’ bye.
This will be a test of his strength at quarterback after failing to impress in his opening appearances this season.
He missed the entirety of his rookie campaign last season through injury.
Quarterback McCarthy had suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee.
He was then named as the Vikings’ starter for 2025 after talks with Aaron Rodgers, 41, fell through.
This has made him the youngest starting quarterback in the NFL.
McCarthy achieved a 65 percent completion rate in his first league start as the Vikings downed the Chicago Bears 27-24.
However, he failed to impress against the Falcons, completing just 11 of his 21 passes.

By contrast, backup Carson Wentz managed an impressive 70 percent completion to beat the Bengals 48-10.
Wentz led the Philadelphia Eagles as their starting quarterback in 2017 before a season-ending injury ruled him out of Super Bowl LII.
A significant decision has been made as the Vikings are set for back-to-back games in Dublin and London.
“The plan for McCarthy is to make the trip to Europe and continue to rehab there,” added Wolfson.
McCarthy is then expected to resume his duties as a starter after the European tour.
Veteran Wentz will continue at quarterback for these fixtures against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns.
